Mila Wins Discovery Pop Festival

Congrats, Mila Jirin.

Mila has just won Best Song at the Discovery International Pop Music Festival held in Varna, Bulgaria.

She performed her hit song Ilham Di Mataku (Inspiration In My Eyes) at the festival held at the Varna Opera House on May 17.

Mila is the first Malaysian to participate in the 16-year-old annual festival.

It saw participation from 11 other countries.

Mila said: “It’s my first trip abroad for an international song festival and I’m so proud to represent my country.

“It’s not just about singing, but also performing. I would also have to dance a little, to score marks.”

Mila’s father Jirin Burhan said he and his wife Zurina Haron were delighted that their eldest of three children created an impressive “first” for Malaysia in the festival.

“We always believed Mila would do the country proud by giving her best in the international festival. And no doubt she did it,” he said.

Jirin and his family thanked the teachers of Akademi Fantasia Season Five (AF5) and Astro for guiding Mila on her path to stardom.

The family also congratulated Mila’s fellow reality show graduate and staunch fan Shahila (Shila) Amir Amzah, the One In A Million Season Two (OIAM2) runner-up who won the top prize in another international contest, the Penang Shanghai World Star Quest held in Penang last month.
