GENTING HIGHLANDS: At the Malaysian Idol 2 (MI2) grand finale, Daniel Lee sang ‘You'll Be In My Heart’.
The theme song from the Disney movie, Tarzan, could well be dedicated to one of his favourite guest judges, popular artiste Anuar Zain.
Greatly valuing Anuar's constructive criticism of his singing, Lee said the acclaimed singer struck him as a kind, humble, caring and "very Malaysian" entertainer.
"Anuar is simply great. I'd love to team up with him, if given the chance. He's worked very hard to become who he is today, and he never forgets his fans," he said.
Lee hoped to emulate Anuar by striving to be a versatile singer who reached out to all Malaysians.
"My definition of a Malaysian Idol is one who is musically versatile, friendly, wholesome and truly Malaysian," he said, adding that Anuar met his criteria.
Meanwhile, acclaimed composer Freddie Fernandez congratulated Lee on his victory, and expressed confidence he would become a successful singer, provided he worked hard to achieve his dream.
Budding artiste Elliza Razak, whose elder sister Ellina was Anuar's singing partner in 1980s sensation ‘Anuar Dan Ellina’, wished Daniel all the best in his singing career. She was a contestant of rival reality show, Akademi Fantasia 3.
Mentor winner Norafizah (Pija) Yasin and her elder sister, recording artiste Naufara Yasin, and “Mentor” runner-up Nabil Damanhuri also congratulated Daniel on his victory.

GENTING HIGHLANDS: Di konsert akhir Malaysian Idol 2 (MI2), Daniel Lee menyanyikan lagu "You'll Be In My Heart" atau "Kau Di Hatiku".
Lagu tema filem animasi Disney "Tarzan" ini mungkin ditujukan khas buat hakim jemputan yang diminatinya, artis popular tanah air, Anuar Zain.
Lee amat menghargai kritikan konstruktif Anuar semasa pertandingan. Katanya, Anuar amat merendah diri, berbudi bahasa, prihatin dan berjiwa Malaysia.
"Abang Anuar memang hebat. Saya ingin berganding suara dengannya, jikalau diberi peluang. Dia telah berusaha keras untuk menjadi penyanyi terkenal dan dia tidak lupakan peminatnya," katanya.
Lee ingin mencontohi Anuar dengan berusaha bersungguh-sungguh menjadi penyanyi versatile yang diminati oleh semua lapisan masyarakat.
Katanya: "Seorang idola Malaysia adalah versatile, prihatin, rendah diri, sopan dan berjiwa Malaysia." Lee berkata Anuar adalah contoh idola Malaysia.
Komposer terkenal Freddie Fernandez mengucapkan tahniah kepada Lee, dan berasa yakin Lee akan menjadi penyanyi terkenal asalkan dia berusaha keras mencapai cita-citanya.
